Doctors without Borders

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international emergency medical humanitarian organization founded by doctors and journalists in 1971. Our teams go where people’s needs are greatest to provide neutral, impartial, and independent emergency healthcare to people affected by disaster, disease, conflict and exclusion. MSF also bears witness, amplifying patient and staff experiences and speaking out to bring abuses and intolerable situations to the public eye. Around 68,000 people work for MSF in over 77 countries. More than 80 per cent of our staff are hired in the countries in which we work. We offer basic healthcare, perform surgery, address epidemics, rehabilitate and run hospitals and clinics, carry out vaccination campaigns, operate nutrition centres, provide mental healthcare and offer training to local medical staff. We work with communities and often in support of local health authorities. Human connections are at the heart of our work, and our medical staff are able to offer care to people in need of assistance thanks to a vast network of staff and supporters.

L’histoire de la Ligue est intimement liée à l’histoire politique et sociale du Québec, à l’évolution du droit international ainsi qu’aux luttes menées par les mouvements sociaux d’ici et d’ailleurs. Depuis plus d’un demi-siècle, cet organisme indépendant et non partisan marque de son empreinte l’évolution de la société québécoise, contribuant à faire reconnaître les idéaux d’universalité, d’indivisibilité et d’interdépendance de tous les humains.

World Beyond War
World BEYOND War is a nonprofit organization with chapters around the world using educational, activist, and media work to advance the cause of ending all war and establishing lasting peace. WBW has a board, advisory board, staff, and chapter organizers all over the globe and works with allied organizations, many of which are WBW affiliates.

WBW was founded on January 1st, 2014, when co-founders David Hartsough and David Swanson, together with a group of like-minded peace advocates set out to create a global movement to abolish the institution of war itself, not just the “war of the day.” If war is ever to be abolished, they decided, then it must be taken off the table as a viable option. Just as there is no such thing as “good” or necessary slavery, there is no such thing as a “good” or necessary war. Both institutions are abhorrent and never acceptable, no matter the circumstances.
